Nature provides us with a wonderful environment in which life thrives, yet its balance is fragile. In the face of excessive resource exploitation and its visible consequences, we believe that we all share responsibility and have a role to play.

At un chic fou, we believe that every action counts, no matter how small. We work every day to reduce our environmental impact and do our part to create a more sustainable world. We all need to do our part!

ARTISANAL EXPERTISE

Nathalie Rossel, the brand’s designer and founder, conceives and sketches each piece of jewelry by hand using a black pencil. Every collection tells a story, and each design is unique, embodying un chic fou brand’s signature un chic fou.

She then draws on the finest local craftsmanship to bring her designs to life. All finishing touches —including polishing, satin finishing, soldering, and hammering— are carried out by hand with care and precision by our artisan jewelers.

The 925/1000 sterling silver is rhodium-plated for better resistance to tarnishing. The brass is plated with 5 microns of 18-karat fine gold for optimal durability over time.

RESPONSIBLE PRODUCTION

Since the brand was founded in 2011, we have chosen to manufacture locally in the Lake Geneva region, thereby minimizing the carbon footprint of our supply chain. We work with local partners in the same spirit, as well as to support the local economy.

We source our materials from RJC-certified suppliers for 18k gold, silver, and diamonds. This certification from the Responsible Jewellery Council guarantees compliance with a code of ethical and social responsibility and ensures that the raw materials we use are sourced through methods that respect both people and the environment. Our production workshop holds RJC-CoC (Chain-of-Custody) certification.

In line with our commitment to minimizing our environmental impact by avoiding plastic and its derivatives as much as possible, we use natural materials for all our cords, packaging, and merchandise.

Ethical and social responsibility also means not contributing to the escalation of consumerism. Producing high-quality, locally made jewelry that stands the test of time is another way to be responsible. That is the strength of designer jewelry.

Designing and crafting jewelry that tells a story is our way of giving it meaning, so we can avoid the harmful cycle of disposable overconsumption that harms our environment.

Similarly, we do not succumb to the excesses of constant innovation at any cost. We release one or two collections a year, unlike what is common in the fashion industry or traditional costume jewelry.

It is within this creative and thoughtful approach that the essenceun chic fou lies.
We create meaningful jewelry, steering clear of fleeting overconsumption, and contribute to a more mindful approach to consumption.

HOME LINENS - UN CHIC FOU YOUR UN CHIC FOU

A LITTLE HISTORY

Linen isone of the oldest fabrics used by humankind. More than 5,000 years ago, the Egyptians were already aware of its unparalleled qualities.

Its cultivation spread throughout France during the Middle Ages and then gradually moved northward to the Baltic states, where a thriving flax industry still exists today, supported bygenuine artisanal expertise.

SUSTAINABLE FARMING, RESPONSIBLE PROCESSING

un chic fou linen un chic fou from France ( the world’s largest producer and source of the highest quality), where it is grown in strict compliance with organic farming standards. It is, by its very nature, sustainable because it consumes far less water and resources—both in cultivation and processing—than its cousin, cotton, and is completely biodegradable. Furthermore, its cultivation requires no pesticides.

Finally, both the cultivation and processing of the plant make use of every part of the fiber and fabric. The plant is useful from root to tip. During processing, every part is used to the very end to create even the smallest items (towels, dishcloths, baskets). It’s truly a zero-waste approach!

FAMILY-OWNED BUSINESS, ARTISANAL EXPERTISE, SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

For the weaving, we sought out a family-owned business that shares our values of authenticity, quality, sustainability, and a deep respect for human relationships and craftsmanship. We found them in Lithuania: a small family-run business that upholds production methods respectful of both the material and the environment. Their production facility operates exclusively on renewable energy and is certified by Flax® and OEKO-TEX.

To work with linen properly, you have to understand it: know how to cut and weave it to bring out its natural beauty. That’s what motivated our choice. Unlike industrial facilities that stack dozens or hundreds of tablecloths to “slice” them with a press, our partner works on them one by one! They pull the thread to cut each piece.

Likewise, the fringes are made by hand: the frame is defined by hand-stitching, and then the threads are pulled out one by one by hand! This is meticulous craftsmanship that is rare these days.
